Peep Show - Series 1 (DVD) ... Features of the DVD: PAL / When Peep Show arrived on our screens back in 2003, we were treated to a unique and original comedy by its partakers David Mitchell and Robert Webb. Now, two series later, Peep Show has become somewhat of a cult hit. Well, here’s an opportunity to see where it all began back with series one--possibly the best of the lot. Mitchell and Webb have been performing together for some time and it really shows; their comedic timing and on-screen relationship allowing you to feel for Mark (Mitchell) and Jeremy (Webb) as they plunders through their lives, trying to find love, and sex. But the real joy of the first series is in watching how their idea--to follow the story through the eyes of the two main protagonists, Mark and Jeremy--comes to fruition on screen. It’s a marvellous concept that works so well, being both unique and riotously funny at the same time. It’s helped by a strong supporting cast--notably Olivia Colman (starring as Mark’s lusted after colleague Sophie) who has since gone on to star in series such as the equally successful Green Wing. Peep Show is unique, different and, most importantly of all, a hoot. And with a bunch of decent extras on the disc, this is well worth picking up.--Mark Oakley

Premium Review Peep Show - Series 1 (DVD): Let's Take A Peek (551 words)

I'm sure the title of this program puts people off, especially being on Channel Four with their reputation. It sounds like some kind of perverted sex program. However, this turns out to be one of the cleverest sitcoms of recent years. The reason the program is called Peep Show is because it is filmed in a first person perspective or point of view with the thoughts of the characters as a voice over. This adds an extra dimension and makes for some hilarious moments. The protagonists of Peep Show are flatmates Mark (David Mitchell) and Jeremy or Jez (Robert Webb), They are old Uni mates who are like chalk and cheese. Mark is a ...  Read the complete review

Peep Show Series 1 showcases some of the finest moments of one of Channel 4's best ever comedies. David Mitchell and Robert Webb feature as Mark and Jeremy (Jez), two dysfunctional flat mates, whose approaches to life couldn't be more dissimilar. Mark is a work-obsessed law-abider, fascinated by history and an individual who does everything by the book. Additionally, his self-confidence is non-existant. Jez on the otherhand, is a work-shy maverick, confident in himself but with little reason, especially as his own perceived musical talent is nonwhere to be seen by the rest of us. Series 1; 6 episodes of genius, follows the haphazard way of life that ...  Read the complete review

So I recently decided to rewatch Peep show series 1 to 5 in anticipation for the sixth series being filmed this year. Peep Show is my favourite sitcom on TV but I had forgotten what happened in the first series. So how does the first series compare with the later series? WHAT'S IT ABOUT Peep Show is a British sitcom about the lives of two flatmates and best friends Mark Corrigan and Jeremy "Jez" Osbourne played by comedians David Mitchel and Robert Webb. Mark is a geeky and socially akward finance manager who works in an office and Jeremy is a childish, wannabe musician whose only interests are sex and drugs, yet you cant help but hold a certain ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sneak a Peek (774 words)

Originally released in 2003, when I finally sat down to watch the first series of Peep Show this afternoon I couldn't help but ask myself 'how have I not got round to watching this sooner?' Admittedly, I rarely watch TV which is why I tend to miss the boat until a DVD reaches the market but I've still had 6 years to get my arse out of gear and give Peep Show a chance. Perhaps it was the promise on the box from The Observer that Peep Show has proven to be 'cult viewing.' Call me a skeptic but cult viewing is a term that (unless used by me) tends to mean a programme with a small but dedicated fan base which loosely translated means it isn't very good. But during a ...  Read the complete review

Peep Show is a now successful comedy series commissioned for UK Channel 4 and is a show I have watched for some time with great enjoyment. So, I thought I'd review it's roots in hope of introducing it to a few people on ciao who have never given it the chance I feel it deserves. Peep Show is quite a unique comedy in that most of it, if not all of it is shot from various first person perspectives. So, when somebody is being spoken to, the camera makes it feel like you are looking through their eyes. This is a great idea and works especially well when characters kiss, or are sick or anything taht looks funny from the first-person perspective. It also gives the ...  Read the complete review
