Advantages: Great acting, Great Storyline
Disadvantages: Bad bits in story line
This is the sequal to the first film Pet Sematary. The first film came out in 1989 and this one came out three years later in 1992. The film stars Edward Furlong, Anthony Edwards and is directed by Mary Lambert. You will also notice the word cemetary is spelled differently. The story is about a family called Matthews who move to Ludlow in Main after the death of Chase Matthews wife. She died during the making of a film in which she is electricuted. Ludlow is where the family were originally from and thats why they decided to move there. Chase reopens the old vetinary as its all ran down by now and no surprise he is a vet. His son Jeff makes friends with a boy who has a dog. His friends step dad shoots the dog for messing about with his rabbits and he ends up dying. He tells Jeff about a place that supposdly your pet comes back to life if you bury him there. The only catch is that the animal has to be buried by a family member and by no one else. All of a sudden the dog comes back to life but isnt the same dog anymore. He is more of a demon dog. Since he is sick looking Jeffs friend takes him to the vet but this si the start when Chase starts to know something strange is happening. However nothing is done just yet. Jeff and his friend are out drinking and his step dad finds out. So he goes and finds the boys. When he finds them he starts beating into his step son. Then all of a sudden The dog which was shot by the step father jumps out of no wheres and bites him to death. This is where the film gets strange as the boys go and bury him up in the grave yard. He comes back to life but like the dog isnt his normal self anymore. He starts being worse than what he was before and ends up killing a local boy. Again the film gets worse as he buries the boy who isnt anything to do with him and he comes back too. The dog is also going after the boys and Jeffs friend is killed by his step father. Chase doe
s tests and is told that the dog is really dead. He warns Jeff of this but we know that Jeff already knows this as he buried the dog with his friend. So know Chase and his son Jeff are being chased by the local boy, the step father and the dog. They all end up fighting with the two winners being the Matthew family. There are two things which make this film really bad. The first being the bit where humans are being buried in the pet cemetary and coming back to life. Only animals are meant to come back to life. Also the bit here the guy buries the local boy he killed. How can he come back to life if he isnt family to the boy. God knows Anyway i like the film. Ive just went and bought the first one too and will watch it later tonight. Am a favourite of horrors and hope the first film is just as good.

- 07/03/04 Hi aberdeen guy - I'm sorry about the low rating, but I give "Not Useful" ratings to any reviews that contain plot spoilers. (Because I feel that the point of reviews is that they give you a feel for the film without giving away the plot - it spoils the film for anyone who hasn't seen it).
If you rewrite, I'll happily come back and rerate - just drop me a line! |

- 06/03/04 I'm a huge horror fan but haven't seen this or the first one. Sounds a little far fetched to me!
Out of interest, I know you left Consumer-reviews but I recall your girlfriend joining? Anyway, just wondering, have you or your gf been able to get on recently? I've been trying for days but it keeps telling me that they're transferring over to a new survey. I also emailed them a few weeks ago and had no reply. :o( |
