Pinocchio, the famous story of the adventures of a little wooden boy, was first released to American audiences in 1940. At a point where Europe was already embroiled in the Second World War and the USA's own entry lay just around the corner, Walt Disney chose for his second film a fantastical adaptation of Carlo Collodi's puppet morality tale. The Story The story of Pinocchio begins, not with the main character with himself, but with the film's guide and narrator Jiminy Cricket (a cricket, mind bendingly enough!) He takes shelter from the cold in the house of Gepetto, a toymaker who has just finished building a wooden puppet. Just before going to ... Read the complete review

The magical tale of Pinocchio, the wooden boy who came to life and wanted to be a real boy, is here captured on DVD by the sparkle and charm of Disney. Created by Roberto Benigni, Pinocchio is one of the classic Disney films and holds a place in my memory from my childhood, watching it around Christmas time for a few years in a row. Pinocchio tells of Gepetto, toymaker falling on hard times, and the adventures that ensure when he makes a wooden boy and it comes alive. The wooden boy is Pinocchio, and he befriends Jiminy Cricket, the little insect dressed smartly and with a worldly wise bit of advice for every situation. As Pinocchio goes on a quest to find out ... There are a few specific films which take me back to my childhood days, most of which are indeed Disneys. Many of them make me quite emotional and bring me to tears, one of which is Pinocchio. Plot: Pinocchio is the tale of how a carpenter named Gepetto creates a little wooden puppet who he names Pinocchio. He has no children of his own, and one night he wishes upon a star and wishes that Pinocchio was a real boy. Indeed, his wish comes true and the wooden puppet springs to life. But Pinocchio and his 'companion', Jimminy Cricket, are mislead by a fox and a cat, and end up in huge trouble. If tht is not bad enough, every time Pinocchio tells a lie, his ... This is one of those true classics that children everywhere love. The story of Pinocchio is know all over the world including countries as far afield as Japan and Brazil. The Pinocchio story is popular with adults and children a like and I find that the children know the script almost word perfect but still come back to watch this again. The story is a simple one. Pinocchio is a wooden puppet carved by Giuseppe the carpenter and all the puppet wants is to become a real boy. He does and soon discovers that if he tells lies everyone knows because his nose grows. This, by the way, is a saying in our house when we doubt the truth of something ... Read the complete review

"When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are, anything you heart desires will come to you." You've heard this song on the Disneyland and Superbowl commercials, but do you remember where it came from? It came from this cartoon, Pinocchio, Walt Disney's second feature to "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" in 1940. I repeat 1940!! Wow and to this day ,Pinocchio still stands out as one of the greatest movies of all time. This opinion is about the 60th anniversay of Pinocchio with THX sound and Remastered visual footage on DVD. Pinocchio is filled with dazzling animation, music and filled with so ... Read the complete review
