Advantages: Jack, Orlando more swash buckling and plenty of battle scenes

Disadvantages: None

After the disappointment of film 2 (Dead Man's Chest) I was unsure as to what to expect from this film. I went to see it at the cinema, because these films really do need the big screen and I have to say I enjoyed this as much as the first, if not more.

It picks up right where 2 left off, with the East India Company in charge of the Seas and Jack Sparrows crew deciding to go and get Jack back from Davy Jones locker. In this film we get not one Sparrow but 3 which is a bonus. Geoffrey Rush is back and Yun-Fat Chow joins the cast as a Chinese Pirate Lord. We even get to meet Jack Sparrow's daddy, the perfectly cast Keith Richards.

It is almost as if Disney realised that the last film spent too much time in one location and realied they had to up the ante on the action side. This moves at a furious pace as Jack is liberated from the locker and then they are all catapulted into a fight between the Pirate Lords and the East India Company for domination of the sea.

All the ingredients are there, with the comedy just as slick as it has always been. The ending does not rule out a further visit and I believe that Pirates 4 is in progress now. This one makes up for the lack lustre second film with more story line and some real Pirate action with the Pirate council led by the Pirate King going into battle with the East India Company. The special effects are bigger and better than before and the battle scene at the end is brilliant.

This is a must for the collection. I have already bought it and although my husband does not know, one of our days holiday in September will be a Pirates day where we watch all 3 on the trott.

Summary: Another winner from Disney. Brilliant family fun.
