Advantages: Brilliant and fresh feeling film

Disadvantages: -

Every now and than a film comes out of Holywood that is different from everything else at the time, and this is one of those films.

The film takes place in the Caribbean as we follow the misfortunes of pirate captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). Sparrow has the single minded task of re-claiming his ship, the Black Pearl, from the crew who mutineered against him, although the crew are now cursed (by Aztec gold) and are the undead. Sparrow joins with Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) to help him rescue his love interest Elizabeth Swan (Keira Knightley), but really is using Turner.

Depp gives a brilliant performance as Jack Sparrow, completely stealing the show with his eccentric and downright crazy persona. He has managed to create a character that people love and really enjoy watching. This film was a welcome change to all of the action films that were plauging the cinema at the time of its' release. However, it has let itself down by the seemingly infinate number of sequel which have been done, are being planned and spin-offs which are in the pipeline - Hollywood can't seem to leave a good thing alone.

Summary: Excellent pirate action/comedy, a must see!
