Advantages: watch it if you've nothing better to do

Disadvantages: Not as good as it's made out to be

From the mind of writer and director David Twohy comes Pitch black: bog-standard alien monster stuff which could leave you rolling around with laughter.
Set in the not too distant future, we follow space pilot Fry (Radha Mitchell) as meteor shower forces her to crash-land on a distant planet.
As her brave survivors explore the blazing hot, three-sunned planet, they must work together to survive.
The planet is eerie,dry and lifeless, but not for long.
Due to an ill-timed solar eclipse the suns set and the planet plunges into darkness, unleashing a mass of ravenous bird-like monsters.
Now our silly survivors must attempt to escape before they're picked off one by one.
The surroundings are spooky and the creatures nasty, but the simple plot never really gets going and the characters are so hopeless that you even start cheering for the aliens.
Pitch black is not very original, nor is it very scary- and except for a few key scenes it isn't worth watching at all.
