Advantages: Tackleberry's romance!, the schmaltzyness of it all, the cheesiness

Disadvantages: nothing!

I have just finished watching Police Academy 2 (ok....its Friday night...so its official that I have no life) and basically its as good, if not better, than the other Police Academy videos.... not only because its cheesy, tacky, eighties and stupid... but because this police academy has an extra element.....ROMANCE! Yes, Tackleberry finds a woman crazy about guns.....and him....and its AMAZINGLY cheesy....just how I like it.

This Police Academy sees the gang on their first assignment in a rough city terrorised by a rough gang led by bob cat (oooh, how will he turn into a policeman?....to be found out in police academy 3....ooooh how can you wait?!?!...no. really.)

Anyway this film is much the same as the others, the gang have a bastard guy ordering around trying to get the captain's job.... this time the Captain of their police station is Captain Lussard's little brother who is being ousted by a Harris-esque character much like the other films....and they save the day....as per usual.... by getting the gang....

But to be fair Police Academy never was about the storyline....its crap and it knows it....the true magic of Police Academy is the eighties cheese of it all....and this film has buckets full of it.... with romance as the added bonus in number 2's case....awww, Tackleberry's first date was so wicked, he even got her handcuff earrings....it was just oh so romantic!

All in all this is one of my favourite Police Academys.... its crap, its stupid, its terrible.....but it knows it.....its almost postmodern is a weird twisted sort of a way..... but as long as it knows its crap then it'll carry on being amazing....this Police Academy sticks to the winning formula of tackiness to deliver another brilliant installment of the Police Academy story. Lovely.
