Anyone in the slightest bit interested in art should have heard of the name Jackson Pollock. Pollock stunned the world with the novelty of his paintings. Instead of painting with a brush Jackson used a stick which never actually touched the canvas; instead he dribbled and flicked the paint over the surface of the canvas which was laid out flat on the floor. The pieces he created in this manner, nicknamed his 'drip period' were produced 1947 and 1950 and they are incredibly famous. I believe most people will be familiar with them.
