Advantages: Artwork

Disadvantages: Takes ages to watch, some of the writing wasn't up to scratch

The artwork in this film, as with a lot of Studio Ghibli films was spectacular. I have to give the film an A for sheer imagination. I don't think I would ever think up a story about transforming raccoons who fight to save their habitat in a month of Sundays.

However, the film went on, and on, and on, and on. It was one-hundred-and-fourteen minutes long, and to be honest, it felt like a hundred more minutes on top.

They really dragged the story out. I'm sure they could have told the story just fine in 85 minutes. My patience wore very thin.

The story was far-fetched and although I am impressed by the imagination, it was a little too out-there for me. I felt that some parts of the story were pointless and didn't make much sense to me. With better writing, this could have been an amazing film.

Nevertheless, I did enjoy the animation, and learning about the raccoons and Japanese culture.

Summary: Good if you've got the patience
