This is one of those films that girls love to watch and a lot of blokes also enjoy but are afraid to admit it. Set in Hollywood Los Angeles it is a comic love story about a mega rich business tycoon played by Richard Gere who meets a street walker who is played by Julia Roberts.

It is one of those films where you have to suspend your sense of reality but it is an enjoyable romp with some funny moments in it and both stars turn in competent roles.

In the film Gere is in town to commplete the takeover of another company who specialise in ship building, his sole reason in life is to make money and he does this by taking over large companies and then breaking them up and selling then off for a profit. Stopping to ask prostitute Roberts for directions he ends up hiring her to act as his escort for the week.

Roberts is great as the slightly flakey, heart of gold prostitute, having said that the storylinenot convincing at all, after all would someone as good looking as she is really be walking the street, no she would be a high end escort which is the type a businessman like Gere would hire, also she s probably the only street walker not on drugs in Hollywood.

The stars do have a certain amount of charisma going on between them although the range of Gere acting is limited to that smooth smile of his.

This is a great feel good film for a cold winters afternoon when it is accompanied by coffee and either cakes or chocolate.
