Advantages: Some good features
Disadvantages: None
I watched the first two seasons of Prison Break on TV as it aired, for this season I no longer had the channel to watch so I waited and hired the show on DVD over the last week.
It was only 13 episodes the first two were around the normal 22 episodes, however most shows were disrupted by the writers strike last year and this was no exception.
**SPOILERS about characters, I dont want to ruin episodes for those who are going to watch it**
For me the missing character was Sara Tancredi and I must admit that I am glad she is back for season 4.
This season saw the ever evil and controlling Company control the brothers once more, this time with Michael in prison and Linc on the outside. Sona is a prison (which was based upon a real life prison somewhere) in which the prisoners rioted so badly the guards now only keep a perimeter and it is Michael's home for the season!
Lecherio runs the prison and if people have a problem with one another they can "rabbit foot" and fight to the death. So a pretty grim setting for series 3.
T-Bag is back in Sona and tries to get in with Lecherio straight away and is as cunning and manuplative as you will have come to expect.
Bellick, ah Bellick. Did not like the character in the first two series and found him becoming one of my favourites this series. You will feel so sorry for him in the first few episodes!
Mahone is another one we were rooting against in the second series and my opinion switched on this fella too this season and hope to see more of him in s4.
Linc with his son held captive and his brother in prison really came into his own and I enjoyed seeing the character step out of Michael's shadow a bit.
Sucre, still a loyal friend to the brothers and still a great character.
Michael, still uber intelligent and always planning. Manages to find a prisoner who is young and willing to help him out again!
The new characters are Whistler - is he good or is he bad, its a guessing game throughout the season. Susan - company so pretty much evil and crazy! Whistlers girlfriend Sofia, pretty much clueless to whats going on but a good character anyway!
The episodes will not disappoint and although there is only 13 I feel the season did not suffer and didn't seem rushed or pushed into an early ending.
Best parts for me were the attempted prison breaks and the friction that caused in the prison after!
The DVD had some decent extras too, Breakout featurette, Making of episode 1 'Orientation'. As well as Director's Takes and Between Takes - showing some of the characters and what they do when not shooting.
Great ending to set up for series 4 which has just started.
Summary: Worth a rental for those who managed to watch the first 2 series but lost access to sky one!
