Provoked is a movie based on true story and is based on domestic violence issue. It is about Kiranjit Ahluwalia from Britain, this incident happened way back in 1990.

Story:
The movie starts of with showing Aishwarya Rai burning his husband Naveen Andrews alive when he is sleeping, so it confuses you why is it happening then it shows in flashback about the torture her husband has been giving her over the years. The police arrests her on murder charges as even though she was tortured & abused by her husband ivestigation finds out she was last abused few hours before she set her husband. So she gets life sentence, know aother social activits who is headed by Nandita Das fight for her & for her justice. when she is in jail she meets her cell mate Miranda richardson and gets along with her very well...
My Opinion :
When i first heard about the incident & came to know that i film is being made on this topic, i was like i want to watch this movie & want to know what exactly happened to her, what she went through & why she did it. But after watching the movie i was not that impressed by the movie. Because the screenplay & direction of this movie didnt appeal to me much, but the characters performances i must say were really good. Speacially Aishwarya rai the way she has done the role of Kiranjit is really good. Coz she is also give dialogues in Punjabi language which she has done brilliantly.
Nandita Das has a very small role but done it to good effect, Miranda Richardson is also impressive, & Naveen Andrews from (The Lost) fame has done good, he inacted the role of a bad husband really wel and you will love to hate him in this movie.
Some scenes in this movie where Aishwarya is tortured by her husband are good, just one thing comes to your mind is how can he do this to her.
Well provoked for me has a goos story but it just does not live up to the expectations. It is good in some patches but dies in some.
So on the whole if you have not watch this movie i can recommend you to watch this movie once just to get know more about this real story and what happened.
