note: also appears in part on Flixster and The Student Room Since the American remake of the successful J-horror film The Ring hit big at the box office, the studios have been getting their hands on every other successful Japanese horror franchise possible, including The Grudge, and the lesser known film Pulse. Sadly, like the vast majority except The Ring, Pulse is a dodgy remake that may better it with more advanced visual effects, but the soul is gone, making this an arduous watch. When high school student Mattie's boyfriend, Josh, fails to return her calls, she eventually plucks up the resolve to go round to his apartment and see what's going on. Confronted by a filthy, maggot-infested kitchen, she is horrified by her boyfriend's squalid living conditions, but the shocks don't end there as Josh calmly walks out of the room and hangs himself to death with a piece of electrical cable. Stunned and traumatised by the experience, Mattie sets about trying to put the experience behind her; that is until she receives an instant message one evening apparently from Josh. Believing that somehow Josh's computer is still logged on and active, ... Read the complete review

*No major plot line spoilers are included in this review* Now i sat down watching this movie with very little expectations. I have seen how bad the reviews are on DooYoo and they dont get much better when you check the offical reviewers words. But you know what...sod them, it was a pretty decent movie. Ok admittidly its not the next biggest horror franchise after Saw or Hostel nor is it quite as scary as the Ring which i think had quite an influence on this movie but it was definatly one of the creppier movies that i have seen, and i have seen many of them. Pulse is about a girl, Mattie, who gets worried about her ... Read the complete review

Pulse is an American remake of a Japanese film called Kairo, I haven't seen the original so my opinion is based on this film alone. The story in short `````````````` A psychology student Mattie who has recently witnessed her boyfriend Josh commit suicide for no reason other than her shrinks theory that he was good at hiding his loneliness. An upset Mattie goes back to her flat and while she and her friends are in a chat room, they all starts receiving messages from recently deceased Josh, thinking that its some kind of virus using his computer she asks a friend to go and log it of since she is still shaken from the event, a few days pass and she is ...
