Advantages: You can feel it working, good soundtrack

Disadvantages: Quite energetic and dancey for beginners

Like most women, I have a little collection of home workout dvds and videos that I used for one week and then were regulated to the cupboard and will stay there until the day when I finally realise that they will never see the light of day again so they may aswell get binned. Yet this workout has actually had its moneys worth. The DVD consists of a warm up, 3 dance routine work outs with the last one being toning and then a cool down at the end.

My main complaint about workout DVDs is that being reasonably fit, i never seem to break into a sweat or feel like I have done anything by the end. This one was different though and I could feel it working. It features the dance group from the Eric Prydz, Call on Me video and with their perfectly toned bodies in skimpy aerobics gear its hard to not be motivated. The music is upbeat and motivating and the moves are quite dancey and a lot are taken from the music video. The downside to this is that although I don't mind doing them alone, I would feel highly uncomfortable if the neighbours saw me.

In parts you do need quite a bit of space as you move sideways a lot but small steps can be taken if you don't have a living room the size of a football pitch. I also think that some people might find it too intense and if you have two left feet it is probably best left avoided or at least you need some patience. It's 95 minutes long too so you will need a bit of stamina and it goes into so high impact moves later on. The lead dancer, Deanne, is very motivating to the point that sometimes I wanted to hit her when I was lagging. Lots of energy but a very high-pitched voice which tends to go up at the end of every sentence. But pleasant enough and she doesn't seem forced in any way or scripted down to the punctatuation.

If anything it is a little amusing to watch the faces of the other dancers who are trying perhaps a little too hard to be sexy, especially considering the main target market is women. There is a man in it and he simlarly is giving it all he's got on the sex appeal front. The ridiculous notion of if you have a partner there with you have some fun and they proceed to almost grind on each other made me feel a bit awkward when doing it with my friend at the very suggestion that we would be doing that and I can guarantee that I cannot see my boyfriend thrusting and circling his hips alongside me.

There is also a slight error in the DVD where they are doing one exercise and then suddenly they are doing another that is not explained. I think this is an editing error or that I am getting very confused!

Overall I think this was a great purchase and I could feel that it was actually doing something, especially with the toning excercises, which are challenging enough to get a bit of an ache the next day. If you are unfit beware though and perhaps choose something a bit lighter and build up to this DVD.

Summary: A great workout for someone who is reasonably fit and wants to burn fat and tone up the wobbly bits.
