Marvel Comic's tough as nails, super bad-ass vigilante 'The Punisher' has had an equally tough history when translating to the big screen. There was the first attempt in the late 1980s with poor man's Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundren as the titular anti-hero. It was a box office disaster, all the more damaging as it wasn't exactly high budget to start with. Then in 2004, in the wake of Marvel success stories 'X-Men' (2002) and 'Spider-Man' (2002), 'The Punisher' got a second chance; this time with the more subtle and not quite so muscle bound Thomas Jane in the lead role. Once again, the film failed to catch the imagination of the masses. Seeing as the flaying legs of a ... Read the complete review

This is a review based on a film viewing at the cinema, so is not about the quality of the blu-ray dvd. In this follow up to the Punisher, the vigilante Frank Castle (Ray Stevenson) sets out to eliminate a mob boss who has nobbled a jury and seems to be getting away with his crimes. The Punisher wipes out much of the mob, but the boss's nephew Billy Beaut (Dominic West) escapes, and is happy to inherit his uncle's role. However, after his encounter with the Punisher he is left so severely scarred his face looks like a patchwork quilt. He takes on the name of Jigsaw and with the help of his psychopathic brother Loony Bin Jim (Doug Hutchinson), ... Read the complete review

This is now the third iteration of Marvel's adult Punisher character - first Dolph Lundgren took the reins in a pretty horrendous adaptation, then Thomas Jane's version actually succeeded, being one of the few Marvel films to have the illustrious R-rating. This third time, however, they've struck something of a kitschy goldmine with the relentlessly violent, morally questionable film Punisher: War Zone. Frank Castle (Ray Stevenson) is a vengeful creature of the night, defending those who cannot defend themselves. One night, he's chasing down notorious baddie Billy Russoti (Dominic West), but in the shootout, Billy is cruelly maimed, with his face now ... Read the complete review

The key to enjoying Punisher: War Zone is not to take it too seriously, some people may love it, some people may hate it, but most should at least be entertained. Released in 2008 by director Lexi Alexander, whose previous work includes 2005 football hooligan movie "Green Street", Punisher: War Zone is the 3rd version of the popular Marvel Comics anti-hero to hit our screens. After 2004s "The Punisher", staring Thomas Jane in the role of Frank Castle/The Punisher, was released to a poor box office and critical reception the decision was made instead of a direct sequel the franchise would be rebooted completely, restarting from the ... The punisher 2, war zone isn't a sequel to any film, its is its own separate film. That for me caused a little confusion, but not too much. This is another film from marvel, and honestly, this is my favourite one. This has got to be the most action packed, grim, bloody and epic marvel film in existence. The film is about Frank Castle, and ex special ops solider, who watched his family get killed in a mob hit. He becomes the punisher, and starts taking down those that the police cannot touch. Unlike other marvel heroes, he has no problem in killing bad guys, and this film contains many scenes of people getting their arms and legs shot off, people being blow to ...
