      not the best one

I have moved a lot in 5 years and know how the time can go slowly, when you have nothing because you are waiting on movers to bring your stuff. That's how it was this time, until I find out our apartment complex has a big selection of DVD. So I went there one day to see if they have something I could see on my laptop and kill the time. I have find the Random Hearths and cover of Dvd seems interesting , so I have borrowed it.

      Plot:
Dutch Van Den Brock ( Harrison Ford) is having happy marriage, at least that's what he think after he find out the plain with her wife Payton Van Den Brock(Susanna Thomson) on board has crash. At first when he is watching the news about the crash he doesn't pay attention, but later he call the airlines and find out his wife wasn't register on any flight to Miami. He run to the company his wife is working for and find out, there ways no catalogue shot ting in Miami like she was saying. Now he know she was having affair, but he still don't know if she was on the plane that have crashed. After he have the list of passengers, he is looking for couple who register under the same name. Later on he find out the man who she was with is husband of congresswoman Kay Chandler (Kristin Scott Thomas). She has no clue her husband was having affair and is devastated. Dutch is meeting Kay, because he want to find the answers on all his question why would Payton have a lover. Through all the movie he is finding more and more things and places where his wife was meeting her lover. In the meantime Dutch is trying to work on his case as a policeman, but the witness have been shot. Will the Dutch find the answer why his wife cheated on him???

      Overall:
I think random Hearths was good movie, specially the beginning was good when he is trying to find more about his wife, why she was flying to Miami and if she was the one on the plane. But later through the movie I feel like Dutch is too obsessed with finding more and more facts about his wife and her lover. It got kind of boring for me at the middle of the movie, but it was still worth it to watch it to the end.

Two disparate people struggle to cope with the shock of bereavement and the discovery of deception.

Well I loved this, I found it thought-provoking, beautiful and moving. There was a wonderful soundtrack, that was inspirationally applied - carefully adding to key moments in the film. The two main characters were depicted as very cool, restrained characters under immense stress.
The film explores how they both respond to both their respective bereavements and the shock of discovering their partners infidelity. I found the reigned in performances to be both believable and remarkable (in that the actors could convey so much of their internal life with so little gesture). It was full of emotion in the held back way of 'Remains of the Day'. The film also touches on: the difficult loyalties of work colleagues, the compromises politicians are asked to make when running for election and how emotional stress impacts on ones judgement at work.
I enjoyed this film and will be recommending it to my friends.

I visited the site with the intention of writing a review concerning another DVD but found Dooyoo hadn’t put the category up like they promised. During my search through the DVD titles available I found the 1999 film, Random Hearts, had received no reviews to date. A film that stars big names like Harrison Ford and Kristin Scott Thomas that is this bad needs a review if not to achieve anything else but to stop a few people wasting money on this at the video shop or, worse still, buying it on DVD. Synopsys: A Washington Police Sergeant and a Congresswoman in the midst of a re-election campaign lose their respective spouses in a plane crash. The cop suspects his wife was having an affair with the Congresswoman’s husband and his investigation brings them together. What’s wrong with it: Harrison Ford is hopelessly miscast and his performance is cringeworthy. He even wears an earring for goodness sake! Scott Thomas is more comfortable in her role but is not given a particularly endearing character or indeed an interesting one for that matter. There is absolutely no chemistry between this pair and there are no other characters or sub-plots to distract you. The film is painfully slow and the running time of just over two hours feels twice that long. Finally, the film has no idea what it is. It appears to land between crime, character drama and mystery but is essentially none of these. Just dull. The DVD: The USA (Region 1) and British (Region 2) DVD releases of this film are identical. Both are fairly scant affairs with extras being limited to three deleted scenes, trailers, filmographies, an isolated music score, Director’s commentary and a twenty two minute ‘Making of’ feature. None of these really add anything to the experience and it is easy to understand why the deleted scenes were cut so that the film did not grind to a complete halt. The film is broken up into a generous 28 chapters and the
menus are quick and tidy. I am not aware of any compatibility problems with this disc and any players. The film is presented in a sharp anamorphic widescreen picture in the original 1:1.85 aspect ratio of the cinema release. It is also uncut in comparison to that shown in cinemas. It looks good and there is no evidence of artifacts or pixelization . Little can be said for the colours as a lot of the film is set against a very grey and washed out New York background which adds to the thoroughly depressing feel of the film. The sound is produced in a docile Dolby Digital 5.0 surround sound format with means there is no channel for the sub and little use is made of the rears. The speech is tied to the centre and is well balanced against the incidental noise of the two wide fronts. On the whole the sound is easy to get on with but a pro-logic mix wouldn’t have sold it short either. It is packed in the hard plastic Amaray case which is certainly preferable to those horrid Warner Brothers ‘Snapper’ cases that are 90% cardboard and look well used after five minutes. The four page Chapter Listing is produced in glossy colour but is just that, a Chapter Listing. Open the centre pages expecting some production notes and you’ll simply find more pictures of Harrison Ford (though his earring is conspicuous by its absence in these shots). On the whole the DVD is a reasonablly well presented package and if it contained a good film I’d be quite pleased with it. Unfortunately it doesn’t and again we are left wondering why classics such as Highlander end up on a lousy DVD release whilst this gets the treatment.

I should have known better - an aging 'Heart throb' and the miserable looking Kristina Scott Thingy wossname. However, the exciting looking trailer, the promise of a bit of hanky panky, and a plane crash, all made me think this film might be worth seeing. How wrong I was! The premise is promising: two people meet, as their partners were killed in the same plane crash. Subsequently they unravel a web of conspiracy. Sounds gripping? It wasn't. Obviously the deaths of their partners upsets the main protagonists - cue lots of anguished looks across rooms. The mystery develops when it is revealed that neither partner should have been on the plane. It emerges that these peoples partners were having an affair. However by this point in time you don't care at all - you'll wish that Kristina Scott thingy wossname and Harrison Ford had died instead. Obviously there was supposed to be sexual tension between these two, but it looked as if they had developed a bad case of indigestion. I really can't describe the full awfulness of this film - the script was the corniest I have ever heard. It was so worthy, predictable, depressing, and random. For no reason half way through the film Ford and Scott thingy-wossname jumped into bed together. Cue lots of 'I'll never you see again' 'I'm still in love with him/her' 'is this the start of something' and other similarly vomit inducing, random statements. The soundtrack was also corny. Imagine lots of solo saxophone, with tinkly piano bits. Just like in the soap opera neighbours. That this story is based on a book is maybe not suprising. As a book I could imagine it working, with lots of inner dialogue exploring the turmoil of these people. However the film just did not work. I don't know if it was the appauling script, the appauling direction, or the appauling acting which was worse - but if you possibly can, avoid this film.
          It was AWFUL!

I only recently watched this film and have to say it was thoroughly predictable. The basic story is that of a policemans wife and a congress woman's husband both getting killed in a plane crash. Incidentally neither knew their partners were on that plane. It soon turns out that the two were having an affair with each other and were travelling as husband and wife. The policeman played by Ford tracks down the congress woman whose husband was having an affair with his wife and they then set out to find how long the affair had been going on for and of course the two of them fall in love. This is probably the worst film I've watched Harrison in.

This film stars Harrison Ford and Kirsten Scott Thomas who come together after their spouses die in an airplane crash. After the crash it transpires that the spouses were having an affair. The film has two story lines one which follows their relationship when they meet after the crash and the other involving Harrison's job as an internal affairs officer for the police. This film was nothing special. It struck me as a made for TV film, the sort one would watch on channel5 in the afternoon. It's not a bad film just not one particularly worth paying £20.00 to see.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

In the glossy romantic drama 'Random Hearts', former carpenter Harrison Ford salutes his old trade with a performance of such woodenness that he cries out for a coat of varnish. It's a shame because opposite him Kristin Scott Thomas delivers a nuanced and moving performance that deserves a better co-star. Ford and Scott Thomas play a Washington DC cop and a New Hampshire congresswoman whose paths unexpectedly cross after their respective spouses are killed in an air crash. A second blow soon follows: the dead man and woman were lovers. The survivors react to their loss in different ways. Scott Thomas's politician, Kay Chandler, bites her stiff upper lip and briskly carries on with her campaign for re-election. But Ford's cop, Dutch Van Den Broeck, won't let the dead lie. He can't help trying to unravel the pair's adultery, frantic to ascertain how long his marriage had been a sham. As he badgers Kay into sharing his quest, however, the defences they have raised against their grief and betrayal suddenly crumble. Sitting together in his car, they suddenly embrace in a moment of desperate and frenzied desire. It's a familiar role for Scott Thomas: glacial dignity melting from the heat of unexpected passion. But few can match her when it comes to conveying emotional complexity beneath an icy façade. Sadly, the same can't be said of Ford. He wears his usual expression of constipated worry throughout the movie, although he does bring one unexpected trait to his part: his tough cop sports the earring that the actor has recently taken to wearing in real life. Sadly, it doesn't make him any less of a plank.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

I was embarrassed for Harrison Ford when I watched this flick, which I fast-forwarded a few times due to the long scenes during which nothing happened. Apparently, Ford was embarrassed, as well, because he didn't seem to be acting, but rather, walking around half-asleep. They say "Seinfeld" was a show about nothing. Well, this was a movie about nothing. While "Seinfeld" was able to create nine fun-filled years based on nothing, this movie created nothing out of a number of solid possibilities. Seeds of plot were strewn around, but nothing was allowed to grow. The plotlines were undeveloped. The characters were undeveloped. And with all of that "nothing" happening, the creators still found plenty of room for filler. I was amazed. ("The Producers" would have created a successful flop in "Springtime for Hitler" if they'd only taken lessons from the creators of this waste of film.) The high point of the film, for me, was seeing that Kristen Scott Thomas has a pretty smile and lovely eyes. The only other movie I've seen her in was "Die Hard with a Vengeance," in which she played her part as the savage bitch to the hilt. In the former role she was excellent, so much that I felt anger and hatred at watching her character. In this movie she appeared to do the best she could under the circumstances. The creators seemed to be attempting to romanticize adultery, making it the norm, and suggesting that those who remain faithful to their spouses must lead boring lives. With that attitude they created a shaky relationship between the two main characters, one that gave the audience no reason whatsoever to care about it. Certainly the movie was faithful to its title, but WHO CARES? Precisely!

Nope, this is absolutely nothing like "Air Force One," "Patriot Games" and especially the Indiana Jones trilogy. Quick plot recap -- Ford is an Internal Affairs sergeant whose wife dies in a plane crash. He soon discovers his wife was on the plane with her lover -- the husband of a congresswoman. He obsessively tries to find out more about the affair, much to the distress (and eventually the attraction) of the congresswoman (Kristin Scott Thomas). I kept waiting for Ford to show some emotion other than looking confused, but then I realized he hit it right on the money. Put yourself in his (and her) shoes -- what would you want to know if your spouse died CHEATING on you? Would you want to know why or try to put it behind you? Charles S. Dutton is predictably good, but is absolutely wasted in his role as Ford's cop buddy as they investigate a crooked cop. Well, either you like this sort of thing, or you don't. I don't!

Harrison Ford plays an internal affairs cop with a wife (Susanna Thompson) currently in external affair and soon to be submerged in a Southern Air flight among the fishes and her paramour (Peter Coyote). The adulterous couple were on their way to a weekend tryst to Miami when something went terribly wrong. He soon discovers his wife was on the plane with her lover -- the husband of a congresswoman. He obsessively tries to find out more about the affair, much to the distress (and eventually the attraction) of the congresswoman (Kristin Scott Thomas). The only good thing about this movie is that it ends.

This movie was shown some time ago in the cinemas. I don't think many people went to see it .. well, be glad if you are one of those who did not. In short, the movie although starring Harrison Ford was one of the most boring shows I have seen. It is basically about Harrison Ford, whom at the beginning we see as a happily married man. His wife is involved in an air crash and that is when the real story begins. There is confusion about her death because when she went on the flight, she was using another name. Why? Well, she was having an affair and was on the plane with her lover when the accident happened. Her lover was also a married man whose wife is in a high profile political position. After some running around, Ford traces the other man's wife and surprise, surprise.. he starts having an affair with her. Well, actually, not an affair since both their spouses are dead..anyway, let's just say they fall in love while at the same time having to deal with the fact that each of their wife/husband was unfaithful. That is all there is to the story. No political plot, no crime.. nothing. Trust me, unless you are a major, major fan of Harrison Ford, you do not need to watch this show.

                  Disadvantages

The premise is great, it starts off with a lot to offer and great potential. The movie never seemed to get off the ground. There are parts that seem to be missing (maybe they are on the editing room floor) and many issues left unfinished. It also seemed like they just suddenly decided to end the movie. It was like the last 30 minutes was rushed. It just felt like something was missing and there needed to be more..... Both Kristen Scott Thomas and Harrison Ford are great in this movie. Bonnie Hunt also steps away from her usual comedic performances to make a great dramatic performance. Worth renting, but not one to add to the video collection.
