... village, taking photographs and talking to weird vergers is done with reasonably crediblity and the interaction with his family is sort of convincing in that low-budget, really terrible lines kind of way. Dukes did go onto get acting work after this movie suggesting that his acting credentials weren’t maimed indefinitely by the experience. Where the movie descends into madness is through the monster itself and the supporting roles. First off, Rex is meant to be pretty tall, 9 foot I think but the monster just...more

Crowned Review Rawhead Rex (DVD): The Plan 9 From Outer Space of Horror Flicks! (1215 words)

Clive Barker may well be my favourite author. Propelled to literary fame initially through his seminal “Books of Blood” series, his work has gone on to be reproduced through further books, movies and artwork. Rating:

This is the worst adaption of any of Clive Barker's writings to date. Personally, I thought that 'Rawhead Rex' was one of the weaker entries in the excellent 'Books of Blood' collections, but that is no excuse for so poor a film as this. Even amongst the legions of lacklustre films in the 'monster on the loose' genre, this stands out as one to be avoided. Ressurected, Rex goes on the rampage, murdering rural inhabitants and attacking the neighbourhood church. Helping him is a local priest who is ...  Read the complete review

Taken from clive barkers books of blood series. After plowing his field a farmer becomes the first of many victims of raw head a centuries old eight foot tall creature imprisoned beneath a huge rock . In the irish country side. Rampaging through the small local community and partialy aided by loopy priest raw head (crap power rangers monster suite) gorily despatches any one in his path only to be stopped by an american tourist and his wife. Worth a look even if its only for the inexcusable violence perpertrated against young and old. Starring the late david dukes who died earlier this year. ...  Read the complete review
