I think it's an unwritten rule of cinema that you just don't remake Hitchcock films by now; after Gus Van Sant's totally pointless Psycho remake, it's clear that nobody can really out do the master, for his films have a timeless quality, and from a technical perspective are largely rather excellent, with equally brilliant performers. While I am a fan of Superman's Christopher Reeve, and was saddened to hear of his horse riding accent which confined him to a wheelchair for the rest of his life, I can't let him off in this shady adaptation of one of Hitch's most beloved films, Rear Window.
