Red Dwarf is a Sci-Fi Sit-Com. It tells the story of Dave Lister & his travelling companions. Arnold Rimmer a Hologram of his dead bunkmate, The Cat (a lifeform who evolved from the ship's cat), and Holly, the scenile computer running the ship. They are all trying to make it back to Earth. Writers: Doug Naylor, Paul Alexander, Kim Fuller, Robert Llewellyn and James Hendrie Director: Ed Bye. Stars: Chris Barrie, Craig Charles, Danny John-Jules, Robert Llewellyn and introducing Chloe Annett as Kochanski. When series 6 of the sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf finished in 1993 Rob Grant decided to give this series a miss, leaving Doug Naylor to take the helm, for this latest series four years later, (1997), although he chose to ask for some support from others to finish the series. I've never really enjoyed Series Seven of Red Dwarf for a number of reasons. Firstly, you can tell that the cast aren't on top of their game - and the reason for this? Mainly it's the fact that there isn't an audience there to boost the cast's performances. This helps hugely and you can tell in previous series that the cast really milk the laughs for all they are worth, here the canned laughter track tends to overshadow the lacklustre performances. Another reason the series really doesn't stand up is the writing. With Rob Grant now gone, its up to Doug Naylor to write the bulk of the series. He also got some help from other writers, but its obvious they don't ... Read the complete review

Red Dwarf VII is the latest in the series to come out on DVD. It's on three discs and runs for almost four hours. Chris Barrie stars as Rimmer/Ace, Craig Charles as Lister, Danny John-Jules as Kat, Robert Llewellyn as Kryton, and Chloe Annett as Kochanski The packaging is plain and simple - purple cover with the logo on the front and some of the cast. What I did like though is the spine of the box has part of a picture on it, so when you put the whole series together, they form a picture. I managed to find this on sale for £12.99. The menu screen on each DVD is set out like the interior of Starbug and you move to different ... Read the complete review
