With the Cold War an ever present feature of much of the latter part of the 20th Century, and with the on screen presence of Arnold Schwarzenegger throwing out film after after film throughout the 1980s, it was only ever a matter of time before a film came from him with a link between Russia and the USA. In Red Heat, the two different styles of policing combining in this film. The Plot Captain Ivan Danko is a Russian cop chasing down a notorious drug and crime lord, Viktor Rostavili, known as Rosta. This is a movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger... Do I need to carry on? Surely the rest of this review is now pointless as you know exactly what to expect from this movie. Sadly there is nothing I can write which is going to shock you or anybody else - this is an Arnie flick with no added bells or whistles. The 'plot' of the movie is this: Schwarzenneger plays a Russian agent who is trying to track down a big player in drug trafficking who is presently operating in Chicago. Schwarzenegger stars as a Soviet policeman in the slightly more conciliatory, if no less stereotypical "Red Heat". He teams up with the sardonic James Belushi as they attempt to track down a particularly nasty drug runner. Even for 1988, this concept of mismatched cops was nothing new, and director Walter Hill stages the film much in the mould of his hit "48 Hours". Arnie and Belushi trade insulting quips about their respective cultures, which inevitably boils down to the stopping power of their guns. Filled with tough action, the film kicks off in Russia (it was actually shot in Red Square - a first for a US production). There we ... Read the complete review

Red heat star the action king Arnie, in this movie he plays a russian policeman, rather well to. He is involved in a drug heist in russia involving a well known nut and dealer, it turns into a mini war and arnies partner gets killed, the russian flees to America and Arnie follows. He is teamed up with an American cop played by James Belushi, and the trail to destruction starts, lots of lovely fighting scenes and gun fights, and plenty of chases. It`s quite a good film with Arnie doing some good acting. James Belushi has been under rated as an actor but I think he is a really good one. Well the film ends as predicted and Arnie goes back to Russia leaving a trail of ... Read the complete review
