Advantages: effects, audio

Disadvantages: terribe film, poor script, poor extras

Starring the excellent Val Kilmer, red planet tells of another "mission to mars" where the mission is this time to discover why the atmosphere on mars is not suitable for human existence. Lacking in everything,. Including originality (this has been done hundreds of times before) we see the obligatory aliens, mysterious happenings and not a lot else.
The acting is average, the script often struggles, and the film drags on for a bit in the third quarter, certainly this a distinctly average movie.
DVD wise, we have a disk that shows the special effects well, and sounds OK too. Visually, the DVD is hard to fault, and the Dolby digital soundtrack will make the cinema rock. Extras are just deleted scenes (although there are a quarter of an hour of them) and there is little to should about for what is a very average package overall, that is hard to justify the high asking price. Rent don?t buy!
