In his debut movie as a writer and director Quentin Tarantino produces a masterpiece in Reservoir Dogs.
The film stars great actors such as Tim Roth, Chris Penn, Harvey Keitel, Steve Buscemi and Michael Madsen among others as gangsters with no names reeling after a failed robbery.
The gangsters have no names are are colour coded as Mr Pink, Blonde, Purple etc.
The film starts with the gang who are always dressed in suits talking normally in a cafe with their boss Joe, the leader of the gang. Then comes the famous music with all of them walking in a line.
From there it goes to the warehouse where the gang wait to see the consequences of their actions amid them knowing that one of them is a mole. There are a series of flashbacks to the robbery and how they all met Joe. When Mr Blonde captures a police officer there is a memorable scene where he tortures the officer while dancing to Stuck in the middle with you.
There is a dramatic ending and many twists and turns along the way.
The writing and acting is superb. The pace of the movie is quick and it leaves you guessing as to the identity of the mole. Michael Madsen as Mr Blonde is truely awesome in his psychopathic role. Tim Roth is also great even though he spends most of the time covered in blood. Steve Busecemi as the nervous Mr Pink is brilliant as well.
There is lots of swearing and loads of blood so it is not for the faint hearted.
The only negative is that some of the flashbacks to them meeting Joe are a bit boring and don't add much to the movie.
The DVD extras include a commentery with Tarantino, deleted scenes dedications and a whole lot more to keep you entertained.
Reservoir Dogs is a great ninety minute thrill ride.
