Advantages: Great film, Great acting, Great script

Disadvantages: Tarintinos First Work So It Isnt as Polished As His Later Stuff

From the very start, this film grabs you into its world and doesnt let go until the end credits are rolling.
It is Quentin Tarantinos first major film release, and as in all his other films he also has a role to play as one of the Reservoir Dogs.

The film is characteristicly Tarantinos from the start. It is full of his usual wit with scenes of amusing, intelligent dialogue - much of which has absolutely nothing to do with the story, which is exactly what makes them so fresh and original!
I particularly liked the cafe debate as to what 'Like a Virgin' is really about, which gave Tarantino the chance to carry out a fantastic monologue.

The story is constantly jumping back and forth in flashback scenes rather than adhering to the conventional chronological order, another Tarantino trait of brilliance.

The basic story involves only about eight primary characters, a sparse yet effective cast.
The films crime lord is Joe Cabot (played by veteran actor Lawrence Tierney). He assembles together a crack team of six men in order to pull of a diamond store heist. He instructs the six men not to reveal any personal information about themselves to each other, just in case anything goes wrong and the cops get any of them.
Instead he assigns them colour coded code names, these are:
Mr. White (Harvey Keitel),
Mr. Pink (Steve Buscemi),
Mr. Orange (Tim Roth),
Mr. Blonde (Michael Madsen),
Mr. Brown (Quentin Tarantino) and
Mr. Peach (i dont know who played this guy, nothings really said about him).

Tarantino manages to steer clear of the stereotypes and gives each character a deeper more humanistic personna - even in the case of the sadistic Mr. Blonde.
This twist is also to the plot, filled with any number of wonderful twists and turns with an over-riding feel throughout of never knowing whats gonna happen next.

Needless to say this heist goes awry and the members left alive, or dying,
must decide what to do and whos responsible.

I wont say anymore about the story, just in case anyone hasnt seen it. But to that person sat out there reading this who hasnt seen the film - See it, if you dont see it youre gonna die next. Now repeat. If you dont see it youre gonna die next.

It is a film that is definitely worth seeing, just dont watch it with your kids as there is plenty of that classic Tarantino violence and language.
