Advantages: very clever very funny
Disadvantages: do some people think he is too big for his boots
He is a total genius! Literally from start to finish this gig is brilliant.
Not only is it very clear his is extremely witty and funny but the way he delivers everything and I mean everything is just spot on.
I can honestly say after again seeing a pure master piece from him that I think he is one of the greatest writers and performers I have ever seen.
His films on the other hand 'The invention of lying' and 'Ghost town' is not particularly good but I find it is because he is so natural with the acting that it looks out of place with all the other American actors 'performing'.
However, Fame is a piece of artwork almost. He enters onto the stage with a giant, glamorous, pink RICKY sign sparkling behind him. Wearing a crown and a red rob. It is very obvious he knows how good he really is and understands that he can get away with this.
The gig, although being called Fame, has little to do with much of the topic of fame it is more the word to describe what Ricky wants (well that's what I thought.)
Anyway I thought from the beginning to the end Ricky was funny. He does some brilliant sketches at the beginning about how much he does for charity and although he jokes about the charities and mocks some of the causes it is clear to see that he does care a lot and enjoys being a part of charity events.
He wears, for the most part of the show, just jeans and a t-shirt no fancy suit or anything. This is nice to see as although he clearly has a massive ego, it seems that deep down he knows and likes the fact that he is only human.
I do not actually know or have heard another comedian be as intelligently funny consistently and deliver everything with such a brilliant degree of accuracy than Gervais especially here in Fame.
I have the box set of all 3 of his live shows and I can not actually say with whole honesty that either one is better than the next. He has managed to come away once again with a superb show and it just seems that although I feel that he cannot get any funnier (as in it is impossible for anyone to get more funny) there is no way he has got any worse!
Summary: very funny and witty watch in on youtube
