Hello Friends. I know all of you are use to my terse and somber writing as I attempt to use Dooyoo as a forum to inspire others to help save the environment and campaign to provide affordable housing to all the asylum seekers but today I really want to write a plain nonpoliticized opinion about a great film I saw last night. I think with all my hard work to make the world a better place I deserve some levity and enjoyment from time to time. So I apologize that there will be no deep meaning or introspection here. This is the greatest movie ever. The only thing that would make this movie even better is if Steel Dragon was a real band and would come to my house ... Read the complete review

Recently, everywhere I look there are regular people off the street getting their big chance to be famous, Pop Idol, Popstars, even Vets In Practice. They have all become household names. In a way it probably lets us live out our fantasies while watching these people, and this is exactly what happens in this film. At first, I was not sure how credible Mark Wahlberg would be as a rock star, as previously I have known him as the leader of Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch, but I have to say up front that he is good, and he carries the role well. Set in the 1980's, when rock was all big hair and loud guitars, Wahlberg plays Chris Cole, a smalltown wannabe ... Read the complete review

Rock Star was a film released in 2001; the film is inspired by Judas Priest who appointed someone in a Judas Priest cover band to being the new singer. ---Synopsis--- It's the 1980's and we meet Chris Cole, who by day works fixing photocopiers. By night he is the lead singer of the best Steel Dragon 'tribute' band around 'Blood Pollution'. Being Bobby Beers of Steel Dragon is all Chris can imagine being. After a bit of an argument with one of the members, Chris turns up to practice the next day to find out he's been replaced, as the band want to do more than covers and want to be themselves a bit more. Even with the support of his girlfriend Emily ... Read the complete review

Have you ever dreamed of being a ROCK STAR? No I don't mean a POP Star or POP Idol or any of that old TV Trash...but a ROCK Star. Fronting the hottest heavy metal band on the planet - living the life of a Bon Jovi or even a Kid Rock - well that's the story behind the latest movie starring Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Anniston Wahlberg (remember him as pop rapper 'Marky Mark'?) plays a singer, Chris Cole, with a rock tribute band. British metal band 'Steel Dragon' are their heroes. Chris' band 'Blood Pollution', dress like them, go to their concerts and then try their best to emulate their heroes in their own gigs. ... The Film Mark Whalberg is a photocopier repairman who is in a Steel Dragons tribute band and gets to front the real group when the original lead singer leaves. Whalberg is also shocked to discover that the man he is replacing was gay. Jennifer Aniston is the girlfriend who gets dumped when Whalberg is corrupted by fame. It’s a story that deals with a common fantasy: sudden fame, money and groupies are all things that may hold appeal for us average folk. However, it also has the benefit of being an engaging trip of nostalgia for anyone who enjoyed the likes of Saxon, Iron Maiden and Rainbow twenty years ago. The film is also more interesting than it ... Read the complete review
