Disadvantages: Not brilliant

Intro

I have always enjoyed Guy Ritchie films and there are probably lots of you Ritchie lovers out there. This is definitely one for the crowd and it is made in a typical Guy Ritchie atmosphere but is it as good as the rest?
In this action flick you get introduced to several characters that somehow have something to do with each other. One is out for the money, another is just doing his job and one is a Rock N' Rolla.

The Plot

In the capital London there is a lot of money to make and a lot of people that will take advantage of you when you do. The big boss Lenny is the man behind it all but one day when he is doing business with a Russian it goes bad for everyone. Mr. One two gets a job offer which is not what he expected. Stella is bored and Johnny is a crazy dead rock n'rolla. Will they all make it out of this mess and get away with what they are after?

The Cast

Mr. One Two - Gerard Butler
Archie - Mark Strong
Lenny Cole - Tom Wilkinson
Mumbles - Idris Elba
Johnny - Toby Kebbell
Stella - Thandie Newton

And other appearances by; Ludacris, Jeremy Piven and Tom Hardy.

The acting is convincing and pure. There is no one who is holding back and isn't nailing does lines written by Guy himself. It might not be as quick and sharp as 'Snatch' but there is nothing wrong with the acting. The cast includes a lot of big names and they are all living up to there reputations.

Opinion

I enjoyed this film and personally I think Guy is a great director, but this time he didn't do his best. I felt like there was something missing, maybe it was Jason Statham or maybe I just wasn't in the mood for a Ritchie film. It wasn't as quick or as sharp as his earlier work but it had the same atmosphere as his other films have. I did laugh and the film made feel a lot of different feelings. The film is funny and surprising but not intense. It is on the other hand a film I would watch again and it will end up in my movie collection. I do think that you will enjoy this film if you like Guy's stile of films otherwise this might not be a film for you.

Summary: The film has more potential

I know this was Ritchie trying to regain ground after the 'eh?' moment of 'Revolver', but this was terribly formulaic (even if the formula in question was 'a Guy Ritchie movie'). Hopefully his Sherlock Holmes film will see him stretch out a bit.
