Romancing The Stone is a 1980's movie that was clearly inspired by Indiana Jones, and during the movie there are a number of scenes that were inspired by the Raiders Of The Lost Ark Concept. Regardless, Romancing is still one of the best adventure movies around. Also,Romancing does not seem overshadowed by the superior Raiders Of The Lost Ark, and is great fun in it's own way.

Story

A popular adventure/romance novelest by the name of Jane Wilder(Katleen turner) is looking for the man of her dreams who she descibes in her many novels. After she recieves a mysterious map in the mail, her sister calls from Colombia, explianing that she is being held hostage by a couple of goons who will exchange the mysterious map for her freedom. Jane Wilder decides to travel to Colombia and hand over the the map in order to rescue her sister. After leaving her New York home she arives in Colombia with map in hand. One of the crooks the clumsy and funny Danny De Vito tries to make contact with wilder, but the real problem has only just begun. The clumsy crooks are not the only ones that have a lust for treasure. General solo, The sadistic comander of Colombia's elite special police unit, is hot on wilder's trail, and will stop at nothing the get his hands on the treasure that the map leads to. Jack T Colton(Michael Douglas), a bird watcher who joins wilder on her exploits, plays the role of the dashing hero, and is clearly inspired by Indiana Jones. With the Colombian secret police seeking to do them harm, Wilder, and Jack Colton must stay alive long enough to rescue wilder's sister.

Presentation And Execution

Romancing is a fun action-packed movie that is also veary funny. The actors are convincing, the sound track is great, and it's an overall well done movie.

Acting

The acting in Romancing is great. Danny De Vito as Ira, the comical crook was grea
t fun, and was one of Danny De Vito's greatest performances. The same can be said for Michael Douglas's role as the cocky adventurer, who performed veary well, and Katleen turner's convincing performence. Some say that a movie is only as good as it's bad guy. Well General Solo is scary, and one of the best bad guys featured in a movie. His performence was nothing short of excelent.

Conclusion

If you missed out on Romancing The Stone, check it out, because Romancing is one of the more entertaining choices out there. Romancing is one of my favorite movies, and is one of the veary few worthy examples of an Indiana Jones adventure clone.
