Advantages: Whole new perspective, more interesting, is easier to understand

Disadvantages: the language still confuses you

I first saw this film at school when we were studying it and I thought that i was the best film that I have ever seen. I have seen the older version but I think this is a much better one. Many people may disagree with me but I think that the story set in modern day times is a great idea. It kind of makes you think whether it would be like this nowadays if we still used old english. Although the language is still hard to depict, it makes it easier to understand if you have got a modern day setting.

It also brings in the younger viewers and helps them to understand the story and it brings a whole new perspective into it. I find this version so much more easier to understand and shows that the love story could still happen even now. If you are planning on watching Romeo and Juliet, make it this version.

The story is based upon the actual thing by William Shakespeare. Although there are several scenes which have been added it still feels like it's Shakespeare's writing. The way that it has been contrasted between old language and modern day times is excellent and is great how the scenes of death and love is very well incorporated into the film. I was slightly worried about when they first saw each other through the fish tank because he seemed to be in the toilets and im guessing she was to and they could see into each others toilets. Most people know the plot but it is amazing how they came up with the concept of mansions for their homes.
