... Romy White (Sorvino) are two not so clever women in their late twenties who are both single and work fairly soul destroying jobs. They party and don't really do much else - they don't have a great deal of responsibility to attend to, and so just enjoy life as free spirits. However, when they meet a former fellow high school student, Heather Mooney (Janeane Garofalo), they learn that there's going to be a 10-year high school reunion, which they of course are invented to attend along with everyone else from their gradua...more

Premium Review Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion (DVD): Romy and Michelle go back to high school (502 words)

Rating:

When Romy and Michelle decide to attend their high school reunion, they are gleeful at the thought of sharing their success story with their tormentors. In a lengthy segment of back story, we see flashbacks of the cool group playing mean tricks on them, and how Romy is in love with the group leader's boyfriend Billy. Ten years later though, Romy and Michelle are ready to go back and face the school bullies with tales of their exciting life in LA. However, the pair soon realise that living in LA simply isn't that impressive, with both in dead end jobs and living together watching Pretty Woman at night. So in order to impress, they claim to have ...  Read the complete review

note: also appears in part on Flixster and The Student Room I steered away from this film for a long time because I got the impression that it would just be a vapid and silly film without any substance or endearing characters. Whilst it is daft and not great, it is quite fun and has a superb soundtrack to bounce your head to. Also, the performances do elevate it to a degree, and like Reese Witherspoon's Legally Blonde, it's actually a lot more clever and well written than you might reasonably expect. Michele Weinberger (Kudrow) and Romy White (Sorvino) are two not so clever women in their late twenties who are both single and work fairly soul ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion (DVD): GREAT, FLUFFY COMEDY (452 words)

Not quite sure if this was marketed as a Chick Flick, think it may have been, but my husband likes this film, so finally a film we can both watch together. This film is getting on a bit thesedays, as it came out in 1997, but I bought the dvd and although I don't watch it every week or that, I still bring it out from time to time to get a bit light hearted comedy. So what's the film about? I guess the title may give it away a bit. Romy and Michelle go to a high school reunion. Romy and Michelle have been friends since high school and they stuck together as they were a bit odd compared to the other kids. They now live together and just go through life having ...  Read the complete review
