I would say that this suitable for family viewing but I doubt children would show much interest in it. Horace Rumpole is at heart an ordinary man and at first sight appears to be a bit daft. You can't hear this title and not think of the fantastic Thames TV adaptations of John Mortimer's books. Nor, after watching even only one, can you not immediately picture Leo McKern in the lead role. McKern took to the role brilliantly and whilst sometimes it takes a while for an actor to really get into the swing of a new role McKern has Rumpole spot on right from the very first episode. McKern's best attribute to the part is that he was a brilliant orator. His performances in the 'court room' are brilliant. His booming voice and diction could possibly sway most real juries.
