Crowned Review Running Scared (DVD): Oh puck (1896 words)

Rating:

After seeing a trailer on a rental DVD I thought Running Scared looked really good and promptly added it to my online rental list. I quickly forgot about the film and when it turned up I couldn't remember why I had added it straight away (this happens with me a lot!) From the trailer it looked like an entertaining thriller and something that I'd enjoy. In the opening credits we see Joey Gazelle (Paul Walker - The Fast and the Furious, Into The Blue, Timeline) getting into a car with a kid. It isn't clear who he is at first and what they are doing but later on this becomes apparent. The child is using his inhaler and they both look hurt. As they speed away it ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Surprisingly very good (296 words)

note: also appears in part on Flixster and The Student Room Paul Walker is best known for his role in the Fast and the Furious films, but here he proves he can be a badass as well as a do-gooder cop. In Running Scared, he plays Joey Gazelle (Paul Walker), a low level runner for his drug kingpin boss Tommy (Johnny Messner). One night when he attends a drug deal, masked bandits bust in and steal their drugs. A few of the bandits are killed, though, and the twist: they were corrupt cops, so Tommy gives the hot guns to Joey to hide to ensure nobody can be found culpable. Joey goes home to his wife Teresa (Vera Farmiga) and son Nicky (Alex Neuberger), ...  Read the complete review

After seeing the trailer of this film on a couple of DVD's I decided to be on the lookout for this film. I was in luck, there was a sale on in Musiczone and I decided to buy it. I can't remember the exact price but it was something like a fiver. After seeing that Paul Walker was in it I was more enthused to get this because he is one of my favourite actors because he is versatile and can play any role as good as another. Credits ........... South African Wayne Kramer does a great job both writing the script and directing the film. Kramer has directed the likes of The Cooler, Crossing Over and Blazeland. Critically ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Must see (155 words)

Rating:

Running scared is a very entertaining but also complicated film. Like all good films it pulls you in one direction throughout then gives you a complete different turn on the events you have watched at the end. The films main actor is fast and furious star Paul Walker who plays a great role. He faces a race against time to protect not just his own life but his families to after a neighbour is shot its not only the police questionning him but his own gang to. The film does not just focus on gangster acivity, it also has some very fragile issues that are shown. I personally feel that Running scared is a must see film, it lasts about 2 hours and keeps you on the ...  Read the complete review

I watched this film and i was confused and turned it off, i then was told that i had missed a great film and i tried it again and this was a great film it required me to concerntrate but it was a great film with a great plot. To make the film even better the was the hot Paul Walker in it as well. Joey Gazelle (Paul walker) is a thug who finds himself in the middle of a drug-deal gone wrong in which a hail of gunfire and some dead undercover cops are the net results. Fleeing from the scene, Joey is charged with dispensing one of the steel revolvers used to kill the cops. Instead he stashes the gun in his own basement, just in case he ever needs insurance ...  Read the complete review
