Advantages: Chris Tucker
Disadvantages: to many effects
What can you say about this film that has not been said already, it lives up to its billing as “the fastest hands in the east meets the fastest mouth in the west” Its stars Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in a fast paced action/comedy. Chan plays Inspector Lei who comes to America at the request of his old friend who has had his daugther kidnapped. The Americans F.B.I team Lei up with a cop who wants to join the bureau. This is where Tucker comes in he plays Carter and is told to keep Lei busy while the F.B.I try to track those responsible. As is the norm in Chan films fast pace action ensues, however there is a twist as this is a big Hollywood film the effects and stunts take a whole new meaning. Mix into this Tucker’s warped sense of humour and you have one of the better action films. On a sour note while this is a good film when you compare it to some of Chan’s other efforts ( especially Drunken Master ) it pales in comparison. But the “bigwigs” in Hollywood prove that bigger is not always better.

- 21/03/02 You speak complete sense. I love Jackie Chan but he is becoming 'Hollywoodised'. I saw Snake in the Eagle's Shadow recently and it was excellent. |
