I'll be the first to admit I don't go to the cinema half as much as I really should do to be going a lot more often. I'm still to see the latest Matrix film although from what I've heard about it here I'm still slightly dubious. However have been given the opportunity to see SWAT I took it up in a flash. The trailers I had seen looked pretty good and the fact it has Samuel L Jackson in it was just a bonus. The story line is unsurprisingly simple. After an armed raid on a bank the LAPD SWAT team are called in to deal with the hostage takers. It all ends in tragedy when one female hostage is shot by Brian Gamble (Jeremy Renner) and as he and ... Read the complete review

OK OK this has now been out for a bit now, I was just waiting for the category to get added for it so I could place this review. SWAT is the latest blockbuster starring Colin Farrell as Jim Street, an ex-forces SWAT officer, moving into another role as an American security operative after the so-so The Recruit. For some reason it has been out in the US for several months before the UK, which probably means it is widely available at car boot sales as well as cinemas. note: also appears in part on Flixster and The Student Room S.W.A.T. is based on the 1975 television series of the same name, although you probably wouldn't know it by looking at it. This is a slick and glossy film that boasts a game cast and a solid concept, but it gets too wrapped up in the preamble and then fails to fully deliver on the bombastic promises that the initial trailers provided. The film opens with two cops - Officer Jim Street (Colin Farrell), and Brian Gamble (Jeremy Renner) are on a mission, when Gamble acts out of protocol, putting both of their lives in danger. After an argument, Gamble leaves the unit. Some time later, dangerous ... Read the complete review

- Plot - MOVIE SPOILIERS Following on from my last review which also featured Samuel L. Jackson, in S.W.A.T he stars as Sgt. Dan 'Hondo' Harrelson, a genuine good guy. A badass that says what he thinks Sergeant, and who has been brought in to help choose new recruits that will get the chance to prove themselves worthy of being picked to join the elite unit, S.W.A.T (Special Weapons And Tactics). This is only part of the movie, the rest revolves around a villain as you would expect to find from the majority of action movies. In this instance it is a drug baron by the name of XXX that needs to be escorted safely after being arrested. I won't go into ... Read the complete review
