Rating:

Advantages: Some great dancing and good acting.

Disadvantages: Soundtrack not as good as the first movie.

Save the last dance two is one of those movies which I didn't have that much hope for when it was released. So often a sequel to a movie I like is released and after watching it I find i wish i hadnt bothered.
However, I was pleasantly surprised with this one.

(This review is of the film only as I saw this at a friends and have yet to steal the actual DVD to explore extras.)

*+* CAST *+*

Some of the main cast includes:

* Izabella Miko - Sara Johnson
* Columbus Short - Miles Sultana
* Aubrey Dollar - Zoe
* Jacqueline Bisset - Monique Delacroix
* Maria Brooks - Katrina
* Ne-Yo - Mixx

*+* PLOT *+*

If you have seen the first movie then the character of Sara will already be familiar to you, If not she is a girl with dreams as big as her talent. She has got in to Julliard Performing arts school and has aspirations of becoming a dancer. She is a phenomenal ballerina but it is her contemporary dancing especially hip hop that sets her apart from the rest. This movies shows the struggle to be the best and the hard work she puts in to achieve her goals. Her love interest in the film is Miles a guest lecturer at school with a passion for sounds and DJ work. There are plenty of twists including the revelation his mother and the realisation that sometimes, when you get what you want you realise it isn't everything you dreamed of.

*+* MY OPINIONS *+*

I was actually really chuffed with this movie. I really enjoyed Save the last dance and this continued well. The lead character is played by a different actress with Izabella Miko taking over from Julia Stiles, I can completely understand this as there is a lot more focus on the precision especially in ballet and Izabella is a trained dancer. One thing I found was that if you hadn't seen the original movie then you were at no lose just watching the second. Although it does continue with only the main character of Sara carried over to this movie the film does manage to stand on its own without its big brother.
The first movie had one of the best soundtracks on record and this one does try to measure up with some great songs by Ne-Yo and Rihanna but if I'm completely honest it doesn't match the phenomenal soundtrack to the original movie. The actors are really convincing in the roles and there have been some great choices in the casting. The dancing, although not as good as say Step Up2, does stand out and portrays the contrast between the urban routines and ballet well.
Overall this is one of those great movies you could sit down and watch. It has dancing, music and romance. What more could you ask from a chick flick.

Summary: A great Sequel
