With the doors opening in 4 hours time, they have 3 hours to find an antidote before the gas entering them burns their insides until they are killed. But this isnt the only story, they have a side story of a police officer trying to catch the person responsible. The film can be quite gruesome at times and has made many people hide under the cover but still, it keeps them entertained. The storyline is honestly fantastic and you find a massive twist a...more

Premium Review Saw II (DVD): You what? ANOTHER game? (388 words)
by - written on 08/04/08 (Very useful, 21 readings)
Rating:

This is the second installment of the Saw films. The first shocked audiences, and impressed with its blend of horror and thriller, and was talked about because of its very clever twist at the end. Saw II (2005) takes the story onto a new level. The Plot Mastermind hostage taker/torturer Jigsaw is back. This time, it is the turn of Detective Eric Mathews to lead the investigation when a crime has signs of Jigsaw's involvement. The criminal is easily apprehended before Mathews realises this is the intention, as 8 more people become involved in a game, one where they need to fight for survival. And Mathews soon finds out he is personally involved as ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Is my name written on the wall? (863 words)

Saw II [film only] When I started reviewing Saw IV, I didn't know I would end up reconsidering all the rest, but here I am thinking of Saw II, on paper, after finishing the other three. As is the case with the rest of my reviews, I will not reveal any of the gory bits that you'll see in this film, for in such movies like this one from which no great value can be gained, these details will be a part of your experience, although they are given away in some of the professional reviews I read. Now, let's meet death... Probably like many of the horror movies you may have watched in which a group of people is chosen to be punished ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Saw II (DVD): See Saw II (1098 words)

Halloween has changed a lot since I was a child, and that was not that long ago. I rarely went out trick or treating and if I did it was being accompanied by a parent and only to some homes that we knew. Now it seems that the abundant commercialism of America has taken over and that the sight of gangly teenagers asking for cash is a given. I reckon that this is mostly media hype, but I do know one thing that you can guarantee will happen around Halloween since 2004 – the release of another title in the ‘Saw’ films. ‘Saw IV’ hits the cinemas this week and as homage I decided to finally sit down and watch ‘Saw II’. Could it live up to the first film that balanced gore ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review SAW (438 words)

Rating:

In yet another part to the SAW series, the film begins in a crime scene, where Detective Eric Matthews is shocked to find his name written on the wall, which leads him to the jigsaw killer. After figuring out the location of the killer, he moves into the building with a SWAT team, facing several setbacks on the way. When Eric Matthews meets the killer, he is blasted to know that his son has ended up in one of his games. A group of individuals (whom all had their own links to Eric Matthews) were locked in a house, in which toxic gases are being pumped into, killing them in 2 hours; good news however was that the doors would be opening in three hours (although ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Saw II (DVD): Very horrific horror! (171 words)
by - written on 20/07/07 (Somewhat useful, 39 readings)
Rating:

In the first five minutes of this film my heart was beating 10 to the dozen and it didnt slow down for hours after the film. A group of people awaken in an abandoned house with no idea how they got there and no idea who each other is, through out the film they are given horrific tasks to perform to give themselves any chance of survival, the crystal maze on acid!! Saw II is a brilliant film, by far the most gruesome film I have ever seen. I dont usually cringe at films but this I did plenty of times! As well as all the gore it has a really good story, I think the writer needs to see a shrink to think up some of the grusome things that happen in this film! It may ...  Read the complete review
