The film incredulously remarks that it's based on true events, but this only really adds to the hilarity of what is to follow. The film also opens with several PETA clips (albeit they are distorted) that are reportedly from Jennifer Lopez's clothing line, and so for once Boll has also tried to take a strong stance on something: a rare delight for the auteur. Anyway, the film revolves around Max Seed (Will Sa...more

Crowned Review Seed (DVD): Uwe Really Don't Want To Bother With This (1005 words)
by - written on 20/03/09 (Very useful, 182 readings)
Rating:

It's 1979, and a prolific serial killer named Max Seed has finally been caught. Sentenced to death by electrocution, the prison warden oversees the execution, keen to ensure that the monster is finished off once and for all. After one initial dose of volts, the prisoner shows vital life signs and a second, longer dose is given. But when he still isn't killed, the warden decides to pretend that he is dead, in case he falls foul of a well-known law stipulating that any man who survives three attempts is pardoned and released. The warden instructs that the man be buried alive and the deed is done. But Max Seed has other ideas. Apparently returning from the grave, he sets ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Well, it's not as bad as Alone in the Dark... (325 words)

Rating:

Uwe Boll is a very famous director in the right circles: he may not stand alongside the likes of Scorsese and Spielberg but...wait...he's the exact opposite of them! Boll is one of the most notoriously bad directors ever, and has been deemed a "modern day Ed Wood" and a "schlock maestro" by several prominent critics. He has been mostly reviled for his poor video game adaptations, such as House of the Dead and Bloodrayne, but he becomes ever so slightly more tolerable when he makes a film from an original script, and thus we have Seed, still a poor film but not as insulting as his game adaps. The film incredulously remarks that it's based on ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Seed (DVD): Most Disturbing film in years (1069 words)
by - written on 12/01/09 (Very useful, 511 readings)
Rating:

Seed 2007 - Uwe Boll Virgin Media have a deal on at the moment, a selection of horror movies at 99p, bargain. So, this is not a DVD review, but a 'Film Only' review. New Years' day, bored, my wife and I decided that this might be a good film to watch, mainly as we had seen another Uwe Boll film recently 'Tunnel Rats' (I'll review at some point) which was surprisingly good. Now I like a good horror film, and very few scare or disturb me, but even the opening scenes of this put me on edge and my wife suggested we stop watching it straight away. The opening sequence shows real film of animals being killed and skinned ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Scariest/most disturbed movie ever? (663 words)
by - written on 14/01/09 (Very useful, 70 readings)
Rating:

Having just read someone's review on this film I decided I would give my take on this film. I have to say I really enjoyed this film if not was also very disturbed by this film. The opening scene is probably enough to make the squeamish turn the movie off straight away. It shows animals ranging from a cockroach up to a dog being severely tortured. After seeing this bit then you will know if you can stomach this film. There are a couple of different scenes that actually disturbed me more than the opening scene and I will go into them a bit later. Seed is a film about a man who was traumatised as a kid and obviously has mental issues. He is a serial ...  Read the complete review
