Advantages: Fantastic plot and acting

Disadvantages: Can be disturbing

I caught on to this film very late in life, it is one of those essential films that everyone should see, but for some reason it had mainly passed me by. It also has three of my favourite actors in, Brad Pitt, who I rave about in my review of Fight Club, Morgan Freeman, who I think has done some outstanding films and Kevin Spacey who in this is fantastic.

Morgan Freeman plays a detective who is close to retirement, Brad Pitt has just been transferred to the same precint, and they have become partners.

The first case they attend is a very fat man who appears to have eaten himself to death, his face is buried in spaghetti and it doesn't appear to be anything more sinister than just a fat man who has had an untimely death. On closer inspection though Freeman comes to the conclusion that it may in fact be murder.

However, further murders take place and it becomes clear that what in fact is going on is someone is killing people in the manner of their personal traits in connection with the seven deadly sins.

If you are not aware, the seven deadly sins, in the yes of the church are: Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride. Each murder to to the sin is truly unique. It is thought provoking, and the killer goes to great lengths to throw the police on the wrong track and keep his crimes hidden. Great lengths!!

At times this film can be a little disturbing, just to warn you - but it truly is essential viewing for anyone who likes films with plot twists. You will notice by my other reviews that the films I go for have big twists at the end. This is no different - I truly didn't see the ending coming and I don't think unless someone has told you that you could guess what is going to happen.

I obviously want you to see all the films I review if you havn't had the pleasure before, and believe me, you really won't be dissapointed by this!

Summary: A must see for film lovers
