The film begins with Ben (Will Smith) calling the emergency services as he is about to commit suicide. The rest of the film shows how he came to that point. He is an IRS man with the job of chasing up people who are in debt with their taxes, but he seems to be asking some strangely personal questions, and his decision about their taxes seems to based purely on whether he thinks they are good people or not. His behavior is oddly erratic. For instance he becomes inexplicably abusive towards a blind call centre worker, Ezra (Woody Harrelson), but also has the capacity to be extremely kind to people he has never even met before. Ben also ... Read the complete review

"In seven days, God created the world. And in seven seconds, I shattered mine" Will Smith has come a long way since signing up with American TV Network NBC in 1990 to star in the much-loved sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air". Almost bankrupt due to overspending and a huge unpaid tax bill, it was at this stage he set about becoming the "biggest movie star in the world". It would be fair to say that he has probably achieved his goal. He is the only leading actor in history to have eight consecutive films open at number one at the box office and has numerous awards and nominations to his name. Smith has fans spanning ... Seven Pounds (DVD) Description: Genre: Drama / Director: Gabriele Muccino / Actors: Will Smith, Rosario Dawson, Woody Harrelson. Seven Pounds is based on a script written by Grant Nieporte under Columbia Pictures. A friend from work recently lent me this film and I was skeptical because I am not really a big Will Smith fan (I tend to associate him with explosions and aliens, neither of which I am particularly into!). However, when I watched this, I was pleasantly surprised as I really enjoyed it. It was quite an emotional film and touched on some subjects that some viewers may find uncomfortable. Having said that, it is a ... Read the complete review

I had really wanted to see this film as the trailers made it look intriguing but as I am not a cinema person and I refused to pay full price on DVD for it I waited patiently and finally got it for just £5 on Friday! I am so glad that I finally managed to see it as it really was much better than I was expecting. Will Smith plays the role of Ben Thomas who is living a strange life. He is asking for 7 different people who are in need of help and who genuinely deserve it. He for some reason has the power to change their lives but we don't know how he can do this. AS we go through the film we see Ben having flash backs to a life which seems so different from the ... Read the complete review
