Advantages: Will Smith is delicious as always, romantic, deep

Disadvantages: Conclusion becomes obvious about halfway through, so no real surprises!

Okay, so this is not going to be a very long review, not because I don't have anything to say about this excellent film, but because saying too much about it would really give away the plot and spoil it for the reader! I had seen Will Smith interviewed about this film on This Morning a few weeks back when he was over this side of the pond promoting it, and even he couldn't really reveal anything about the plot!

My friend and I went to see the film at the cinema a couple of weeks back; she had already seen it once and liked it so much she wanted to see it again! The film is pretty intense stuff; no sign of "Big Willie Stylee" here! Will Smith is fantastic in the lead role of Ben Thomas, very believable (and also very attractive; I was pleased to discover that he does take his top off, but only the once unfortunately!) Rosario Dawson is also very good as the main female character, Emily Posa. I had never seen her in anything before and I think that she is a very good actress; she doesn't seem to shy away from looking a bit rough at some points in the film! The film also features Woody Harrelson in quite a small role as Ezra Turner.

My friend had taken some tissues with her, and I was pleased that she did, as the film is very sad. I really knew nothing about the film when I went to see it; about halfway through I had figured out what the conclusion was going to be, although this didn't make it any the less upsetting.

I wouldn't exactly classify this film as a "chick flick", though it is pretty deep; there aren't really any comedic moments and certainly no car chases so fans of Will Smith's comedy and action films may not enjoy it so much. I loved it myself and will be watching it again with my husband when it comes out on DVD.

Summary: I would love to say more about this great film but don't want to spoilt the plot for anyone!
