Advantages: Thank god they didnt leave it at the end of the tv series
Disadvantages: None at all
This film is a must for any big Sex and the city fan. Ive owned the tv series box sets for a while now and bought this when it was on sale. Im one of those people that if you have the start of a collection of tv progs or films, i have to have the whole set. I have a bit of OCD when it comes to the order of my dvds.
I have to say though i was a bit reluctant to watch this film. Normally when something huge comes from a tv series, and is hyped up a lot, im not normally impressed with it. Im so glad i was wrong about this one. Im also the kind of person that wonders what might have happened after a tv series ends. The film answers so much for me and puts my mind at ease now.
It was released in 2008 and stars everyone you would expect it to if you've seen the tv series as well as Jennifer Hudson. I didnt know who Hudson was at the time of watching the film, but i thought she played her part extremely well and im glad they cast her. Carrie really needed a different friend other than the main characters. Im suprised they didnt cast her an assistant in the tv shows. Carrie's writing did get pretty big after all.
I loved drooling over the wardrobe in the tv shows and i was amazed by what they used in the film. Getting a real designer to be part of the story was fantastic considering how much of the programme was about fashion.
Carrie is all set to marry Big and live out her happy life fantasy but things dont go according to plan. I dont want to ruin the film for people who havent seen it so i wont go into the plot. I absolutly loved the story and was really glad that it didnt just focus on Carrie and Big like i thought it would. The show is just as much about the other 3 main characters as well so im glad we got to learn more about what was going on with them too in the film although i was sad to see how Samantha's life with Smith had turned out.
This film is full of funny moments and sad moments the whole way throughout with some great lines.
Carrie Bradshaw: Lets go down to the hotel for dinner tonight, I need to get myself out of my Mexi-coma.
Samantha Jones: Aww, you made a little joke. Good for you!
Ive also just read on IMDB that there is to be a Sex and the city 2!!! Release date May 2010. I didnt think they could do anymore with this but i guess they can. Roll on next year.
Summary: Im so glad they made this film
