Advantages: cluse to the workings of the porn industry

Disadvantages: no real insight into the woman the film is about

The Annabel Chong story might be quite interesting but unfortunately this documentary didn't do it justice. Annabel is a strange and deeply disturbed young woman who swings wildly in persona from a sensible and quiet student (under her real name) to Annabel Chong - a character that seems detached from the porn scenes that she enacts. At one point Annabel tries to persuade us all that she does it for women's rights, but later on in the film she admits that she was never paid for the huge publicity stunt of sleeping with the much lauded 251 men and she can't be bothered to pursue the money. Standing up for her rights - the proof is in the pudding, honey.

The stunt itself of "sex" with 251 men is also misleading - "sex" involves many things not just intercourse apparently - oral sex is included as are various other things which I will not go into here. I felt that the definition was being a little stretched.

later on in the documentary Annabel has to witness another porn actress beat her record in another carefully executed publicity stunt and this seems to hit her hard. Shortly after she says she is quitting the porn industry - although later on in the film she returns quieter and more saddened than before.

The two scenes that stand out in the film are her mother finding out that her daughter is a porn star and a very disjointed scene where "annabel" reveals that she was gang raped and takes you to the place where it happned.

At the end of the documentary I don't feel like I know this person any better than I did at the beginning. I certainly do not feel that she has any idea about women's rights, and she has little idea about her own identity. As the documentary aspect of the film fails to cast any real insight onto the woman, I can only conclude that the film makers wish to "titilate" its audience rather than "inform".

Great op. I saw this documentary, I thought she came across as a deeply disturbed woman. When I heard about her having sex with so many men, I thought "no problem, horses for courses", but it turns out that at least several of them didn't wear a condom and weren't screened for HIV I got really worried about her state of mind. Deeply sad.
