Worth a viewing. (Shallow Hal (DVD))

Didn't think I would enjoy this but the better half wanted to see it so along we went, making fun of someone overweight not my ideal way of spending a day especially as I could do with loosing a few pounds myself!!

The film is about Hal (surprise surprise) who is played by Jack Black. Hal being surprisingly very shallow believes that all tall sexy Babe is up for grabs and he doesn't understand why they don't all want him, believe me he tries his best. Again not being a good looker his sights are rather high but he find an excuse for women not finding him attractive but probably wins hands down against his best mate Mauricio (Jason Alexander) who gives up a relationship with a fantastic looking woman because one of her toes was abnormal!

After a host of lost ladies Hal is put under a hypnotic spell by an American TV star who gets stuck in a lift with him. Basically now Hal will see the inner woman in a person who may be fat, ugly or what ever. To quote Mauricio ' Your dancing with a dog yet you tell me she's a princess' - beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Rosie is played by Gwyneth (lovely name) Paltrow who in the movie is a rather large lady but Hal sees her as Gwyneth Paltrows normal self. The thing is the rest of the cast see Rose for what she is especially Mauricio who cannot understand what Hal is doing.

The film has its one lines and does get a bit close to the knuckle at a number of point regards size but ends the film in a very light hearted way and teaches us all a lesson - beauty is in the eye of the beholder,and is got across very well.

A film to me that was better than expected maybe it will teach this up and coming generation lesson or two (I doubt it). A little bit to American for me but worth a viewing some good bits
