SHREK THE THIRD is a short animated film from Dreamworks.
Shrek voiced by Mike Myers wants to have a nice peaceful christmas with his wife Princess Fiona voiced by Cameron Diaz and their babies. Shrek is determined to read his children the story of christmas when Donkey voiced by Eddie Murphy and Puss in Boots voiced by Antonio Banderas come round. They bring with them all the fairytale characters of the other movies so they can share the fun. However, Shrek is not happy about thisas they all have different ideas on christmas and eventually Shrek gets angry and upsets them all. Leaving the house Fiona thinks Shrek has been harsh on their friends so Shrek tries to arrange the best christmas ever, but will he get his friends to return and tell his children the story of christmas.
This is a beautifully short Shrek movie that has real christmas spirit. The premise is great and the return of all the characters is brilliant. The animation is still on top form with lots of colours coming on to the screen. The writing is clever with lots of humour which will appeal both to children and adults. The action moves at a great pace with all the jokes crammed in. Donkey and Puss are particularly funny while the film has a great moral about families being together over christmas.
The only negative is that it only lasts 30 minutes. It is too short for a DVD and finishes before it has even begun. Nonetheless, it does get you in a christmas mood. However, I wouldn't buy this on DVD but wait to watch it on television as they always show it around christmas.
