Advantages: Hilarious scenes, a crazy plot and a great cast.
Disadvantages: None
I bought this DVD from ASDA yesterday because it was cheap, I love the Shrek series and I hadn't seen this one yet. As soon as I switched it on and the first scene played I couldn't stop laughing.
It kicks off from the last film and involves Shrek finding a boy called Arty or Arthur. The reason being this is because the King of Far Far Away has died and as Shrek is next in line to the throne he doesn't want to do it because he is an Ogre, Arty is the next heir. Prince Charming also maked his return in a new plot to become King. Shrek also has to contemplate becoming a father for the first time after Fiona makes her announcement.
The all star cast is an hilarious one and I absolutely love the line up. With Mike Myers (Shrek), Cameron Diaz (Fiona) and Eddie Murphy (Donkey) making their return they are joined by members from the last film Antonio Banderez (Puss In Boots), Rupert Everest (Prince Charming) and Julie Andrews (Queen of FFA/Fiona's Mother/Lillian). We also see a film debut from Justin Timberlake (Arthur/Arty).
The fairy tale creatures make their return, like Gingerbread Man, Three Pigs, Big Bad Wolf (Dressed in a pink nighty! HAHA) and Pinochio in another one of their hillarious quests to help Shrek. Four princesses in this film are actually amazing I think with Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Snow White and Repunzel becoming lean mean fighting machines and their funny scenes with Fiona.
I put this in my best films list as its one of the best and most hilarious films I've seen with a plot that will keep you laughing for hours. It will make you waiting intensely for the next in the series, Shrek Goes Fourth.
Summary: A magnificant sequel to Shrek 1 and 2
