Silent Waters also called Khamosh Pani in Hindi. Well the concept of this movie is based on Womans. And during the partition of India & Pakistan in 1947 what happened with Sikh & Muslim womans. But the story is set in 1979, it is about a woman name Ayesha(played by Kiron Kher)shows what happened at that time with her. This movie has won almost 14 International Film Awards. Its directed by a Pakistani woman Sabiha Sumar, this is her first movie. I have watched this movie yesterday & i liked it.

Story :

This movie shows what happenedat the time of partition in 1947, and also about the rise of Islamic fundamentalism in Pakistan in 1979 during the goverment of general Zia ul haq.
this movie is about a woman name Ayesha, who is widow and leaves with her 20 year old son Saleem in Charki village near Rawalpindi. She lives a very simple life, her son is unemployed and she runs the house by the pension of her husband & by giving Quran lessions to small girls in the Village.

She insists her son to do the job of a shopkeeper but he says he dont want to do it. So she is always behind him to look for a job for himself, as she is not able to run the house in the pension money. She livesa simple life, havinga friend in neighbour she goes to the market with her, chats with her etc.
Saleem is in love with Zubeida she goes to school, zubeida is very strong girl and she wants to go to college and joining office and wants to get rich by hardwork. So they both wants to get married.

Till here the life of evryone is simple in the Charki village, the life changes after the entry of two men from Lahore who are supporters of General Zia. Their mission is to spread Islam and they support the Islamisation program of General Zia. The young generation comes under the influence of these two people from the village and also join their programme if Islamisation. Saleem also joins them after his friend amin joins them.
So now starts to join campaign again the people who do not follow Islam properly, even he does not agree to his mothers preaching what she has tought him all years and when her mother says not to meet with those two guys as they will destroy his life by wrong preaching he says he would meet them and know he knows what to do in life. Now people stop and listen to him and he has got image in the society. He even does not meet Zubeida and longer as he thinks it not right to meet a girl. So all of a sudden the life of everyone changes in the village.
At this time the Indian & pakistani goverment agree to that Sikh people from India can visit the Holy site in Pakistan in Charki village. Now the Sikhs starts visting Charki village.

There is this one sikh name Jaswant wo before partition was from Carki and is looking for his sister who was left behind at that time. Because at the partition time it was happening with womans from both the side, they were getting raped, killed. So most of the sikh people forced the woman from thier family to suicide so that their family pride is there. At that time his sister runs away. But jaswant thinks that her sister might be alive because most of the Muslim womans in India & Sikh womans in pakistan have married thier Abductor & converted to Islam. So here the movie takes a new turn and what happens next is you to find our by watching it.
My Analysis :

Well i liked this movie, its a 2 hours movie but its worth your time in the end. No songs in the movie so its not a regular Bollywood/Lollywood movie. The main language in this movie is Punjabi language so i had to listen each dialogue carefully as my Punjabi understanding is not that good, but thankfully it had subtitles in English which made the dialogue much clear to me.
Its a great story and the way it has been presented by the first time director Sabiha Sumar is simply great. It gives you the idea what happened at the time of partition in 1947. How the womans were treated at that time, and what possibly happened with their life after that period.

Kiron kher has done a brillant work in this movie, the way she has inacted the role og a middle aged woman is just great to watch. Her body language, the way she plays the role of a carring mother is great to watch.
Aamir ali has done full juctice to his role.
In the end a must watch movie.
