Here, we are now comfortable acquainted with the family, and just as we are, a spanner is thrown in the works as Nate seems to be having some health issues, throwing up and smelling rotten eggs when out with Claire to get some fast food. It appears that he is suffering from AVM (Arteriovenous malformation), a ...more

Premium Review Six Feet Under - Complete Season 2 (DVD): Great follow up (305 words)

Six Feet Under began in 2001 and quickly became heralded as one of the greatest shows of all time, and one of the very best things that HBO have produced which, when you also have the likes of The Sopranos, Oz and The Wire on your mantle, is quite a statement. The depth and the quality of the writing is unsurpassed, thanks to American Beauty scribe Alan Ball's amusing and astute insights into human behaviour and feelings towards life, death, love, family, sexuality, and relationships. The first season provided the brilliant building blocks for the rest of the series, introducing us to the Fisher family and setting up the relationship between Nate (Peter ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Six Feet Under - Complete Season 2 (DVD): Twice as dark and twice as funny (692 words)

Ah, Six Feet Under. How I love thee. I recently watched and reviewed the first series, and since I enjoyed it so much I couldn't resist starting on the second one and reviewing it too. It's fantastic when you watch a series of a programme you love, and know that there are another four series of it to go. Six Feet Under is set in Los Angeles, California, and is about the Fisher family who run a funeral home, the family business. There is Ruth, the mother, who is learning to cope with her husband's fairly recent death and living with her three children who she doesn't feel close enough to; Nate, the eldest son, who left the family and the business and left for ...  Read the complete review
