Advantages: Masterful use of effects

Disadvantages: Everything else

Approach this film with no expectations and you won`t be too disapointed. Approach it with even a hint of hope and you`ll start to wonder why you`re watching it.
First off, let`s focus on the good points. The effects are simply stunning. Right, that`s that out of they way.
The script on which this (far) too long film is based is so ridiculous that I was laughing at parts where the majority of the cinema was silent. Some of the one liners are so incredibly cheesy, I find myself (again) wondering if the scriptwriters hafd been doing somthing illicit in the evenings whilst writing this.
Jude Law was reasonable, I found Gwyneth Paltrow amazingly annoying, and everyone else in all honesty needs to go back to RADA to brush up on the basics.
But the tragic thing is I can honestly see the standard that the film intended to achieve. It was intended to be a throwback to the old black and white adventure films, but it falls short of the mark by such a margin, it turns into somthing else entirely, and it has a foul taste indeed.
