Premium Review Sleeping With The Enemy (DVD): If he can't have her no one can! (545 words)
by - written on 05/02/09 (Very useful, 113 readings)
Rating:

Sleeping With The Enemy is a psychological thriller based on a book released in 1987 of the same name. This stars Julia Roberts post Pretty Woman in one of her better but underrated roles of her career. Her husband's played by Patrick Bergin in what is probably his most notable role, he's also starred in small films like Robin Hood (1991) & Mountains On The Moon (1990). Sleeping With The Enemy is directed by Joseph Ruben, a relatively unknown director with no huge blockbusters under his belt, he tends to direct small fry films, having said that they do seem to be good films. He directed Money Train in 1995 starring Wesley Snipes, Woody Harrelson & ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review What happens behind closed doors? (593 words)

Rating:

Introduction ========= Julia Robert's later work is better than the earlier films she appeared in. This is one of her earlier films, however the storyline is good and Patrick Bergin is excellent as the psycho husband. The Plot ====== From the outside Martin appears to be the perfect husband, kind, caring and thoughtful but like many things all is not as it seems and behind closed doors Martin becomes a different person; Martin becomes a violent and controlling man. After three years of marriage Laura has had enough and decides that her only way to escape from her evil husband is to fake her own death. Laura fakes her ...  Read the complete review

Rating:

I saw this film years ago when i was younger and i have to admit that i completely loved it. I must have watched it over thirty times in total and i think it is just fantastic. I dont normally like scary films but i will make an exception for this one as it is brilliant right from start to finish. If you have never seen Sleeping With The Enemy, it is a psychological thriller film that came to our screens in 1991. It was directed by Joseph Ruben and is based on the novel of the same name by Nancy Price. The film has some brilliant actors including Julia Roberts, Patrick Bergin and also Kevin Anderson. The running time of the film is 99 ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sleep with your eyes open (329 words)
by - written on 07/02/09 (Very useful, 30 readings)
Rating:

This was one of the first films in which I saw Julia Roberts and realised that she did have some acting ability rather than just being all hair and a big smile. In Sleeping with the Enemy she plays Laura a suburban housewife who lives on a beach front house in what looks like an indyllic marruiage to her successful husband Martin played superbly by Patrick Bergin. Howwever things are not what they seem as Martin is a total control freak who insists that everything in his house is perfect and is violent to his wife if he thinks she so much as looks at another man. His is a chilling role which he plays in a totally convincing manner. Laura is also ...  Read the complete review
