..but someone already snatched it! ***Intro*** Well I finally have a computer in my room, its only a scabby little thing that we owned for?jeebus I don?t know how long! It?s much more efficient for my write-ups, and it brings a whole new meaning for doing my homework the night before?or even the same morning! So I?m sat here missing out on a good old p*ss-up right now? I could be out with atleast 10 other friends celebrating a birthday down at river Yeo. But I?m ill enough from my scamperings at Friday nights gig, and I don?t trust myself not to fall in the river anyway, so I?m quite literally sitting out this one. Snow White was bought for me at ... Snow White, the traditional tale has been retold in many forms, but never really in the horror genre, more as fairy or fantasy. But this gothic horror working of the tale has to be my favourite of them all. This film seemed to pass most people by when it came out and then later when it came out on video, which I think is a huge shame because the film is masterfully done. Directed by MIchael Cohn the twists are intensely enjoyable and the suspense of the horror is brilliant. Set in 1495 in the Black Forest in Germany, the place of the stories of the brothers Grimm, this Snow White is not the fairy tale of Queens and Princesses like Disney tries to make out. ... I was reminded of this movie by reading a review on the Disney classic earlier today. Snow White : Tale of terror should NEVER be confused with the Disney movie because it is dark evil tale based upon The Brothers Grimm fairy story. Pretty it ain't and it would give your little darlings nightmares for the rest of their lives. Snow White: Tale of Terror(aka Snow White in the black forest) is much more faithful to the original fairytale as told by the borthers Grimm. It isn't tarted up, sanitised and with its ending changed like the Disney version or many of those others which have followed, but rather sticks to the rather dark tale that they initially ... Based on the Brothers Grimm gothic fairytale, this is not a film for family viewing. It begins with a haunting scene in which a carriage carrying Lord Friedrich (Sam Neill - TV’s ‘Merlin’) and his pregnant wife Lilliana overturns in the forest. She dies and the grieving husband is forced to recover the child from the fresh corpse of his darling wife. Soon after, Friedrich marries a vain woman named Claudia (Sigourney Weaver – ‘Alien’) and she and the little girl Lily (Monica Keena - ‘While You Were Sleeping’) fast become rivals for her father’s affections. Nine years later Claudia becomes ... Read the complete review

Thanks to Disney, the Victorians and other santizing influences, most people associate fairy tales with cute singing creatures, beautiful princesses and the like. If you thought Snow White was about a girl and some dwarves and a handsom prince, think again. Michael Cohn's 1997 film goes back to the original Grimm tale, back to the dark forests, the terror and the dangers. This is a film about sexual jealousy, poverty, obsession and very dark magic. It is not suitable for children. The Plot: (I'll try t not to spoil it too much.) Lord Freidrick (Sam Neill) and his wife Lillianna are travelling by coach when starving wolves drive them from the road. ... Read the complete review
