So, after the cult success of the brilliant Dead Mans Shoes and solid rental returns for This is England, British director Shane Meadows returns with Somers Town, this a little treat from his backers who have given him some money to indulge in his passion - short films, Somers Town just 68 minutes long. This is another film from the excellent English director Shane Meadows, the man who bought us Made in England, it is a rather short film at just over the hour mark but it is packed full of action and tells n interesting story and indeed Made in England star Thomas Turgoose also appears in this film. Turgoose plays Tomo who has just run away to London and is facing his first nights on the street. Somers Town is another masterpiece by British director Shane Meadows. Those familiar with Meadows work will be instantly drawn to this small independent picture filmed around London. Starkly filmed in black and white, Somers Town features all the directors' trademarks, most notably the clever, witty and half-improvised script. It is set in Somers Town, a suburb in central London (which really does exist) and follows the adventures of two teenagers from differing backgrounds who meet by chance.
